Ladle Rat Rotten Hut (Grimm Diaries Prequel #4) ~ Cameron Jace

This prequel is narrated by Little Red Riding Hood.
This story being telling you of a little girl who is terrified of the wolves that scare her each night. One night on the advice of a stranger, she take a bottle of her mother’s wine, drinking it, spilling the red wine on the sheet covering her from the wolves sight. Once she has had enough, or is actually drunk enough, she kneels on her bed with the now-red sheet covering her. This scares the wolves, but she does not know why. Only that she discovers the wolves are afraid of her.
Later, she is to take over her mother’s job, but she does not know exactly what the job is. Going into the forest, via a carriage, it’s attacked by wolves. The driver and one of the horses have been eaten by the wolves. Trying to follow a map, Little Red Riding Hood finds a boy in the forest, who teaches her a new language, “Anguish.” But the boys is not exactly who he appears to be.
Little Red Riding Hood also meets Hansel & Gretel, and informs them that they will be great individuals when they grow up. She also promises to meet them later so they can all learn “Anguish” later in the market place.

In this prequel, Little Red Riding Hood discovers who she truly is, as well as other interesting details. This prequel gives you a bit more info than the prior 3.

Beauty Never Dies (Grimm Diaries Prequel #3) ~ Cameron Jace

This prequel is narrated by Peter Pan, and boy does Mr. Jace have one heck of a twist in this one.
Peter Pan is waking up Dracula, so he can wake up the love of his life. His “assistant” is the Hunchback of Notre Dame. One his way to complete the ceremony, the Evil Queen shows up with her bag of items. The items she needs to find the Lost Seven (you will have to read Snow White Blood Red to find out more on that). She has come to Peter to learn who they are, & believes with his assistance she can locate them before they find Snow White. Or before Snow White can find them. They are simple clues; beans, knife, plate, fork, bread crumbs, glass mug, and chair. Each connecting to a fairy tale character who has assisted Snow White in the past.
After Peter helps her figure out some of the clues, he returns to his ceremony to wake up his true love, created by more than one author, she exists in more than one fairy tale.

Ashes to Ashes and Cinder to Cinder (Grimm Diaries Prequel #2) ~ Cameron Jace

This prequel is narrated by Alice Grimm.
Immortals are the fairy tale characters themselves. They cannot be killed, but if they are killed in Dreamworld it puts them in a coma they will not wake from. Dreamhunters are the individuals who can enter an Immortals dreams to kill them.
In this story, Alice flies to Venice on a mission to “find Cinderella” with the help of Loki, a Dreamhunter.
Bella shows her the corpse of a witch that was burned, with 7 nails in her jaw, and staked to the ground. When the tarp is removed, Alice learns that the witch was buried with 17 glass slippers. Making this witch the individual who can help her find Cinderella.
During the time spent in Dreamworld, Alice tries to explain a lot of this to Loki. They begin looking for the witch, which is unusual for Loki but he agrees to help Alice complete her mission.

This story gives you a bit about who Loki is. Which is suppose to help out later in Snow White Sorrow.

Snow White Blood Red (A Grimm Diaries Prequel #1) ~Cameron Jace

Just how do can you give this prequel a review without telling much, but letting others know it’s worth the read?

Want a new twist on Snow White, read the prequel that is narrated by Snow White Queen/Evil Queen … or as you find out, Snow White’s mother.
She begins by telling Wilhelm Grimm that the changes in his stories were more than deceitful.

She admits that she is somewhat evil, but not as evil as Snow White. That she told his brother, Jacob, the story as he lay dying. How she was looking for the “Lost Seven” who were called the “Seven Dwarves” in Snow White’s tale. She also states that because of the changes in the stories, it provides Snow White with more power with each person who believes.
The Queen tells of how Snow White bite a young prince, nearly killing him. Causing her father to use black magic to save the prince, and erase the minds of the prince’s parents. And who that event changed the relationship between Snow White & her mom, the Queen narrating this tale.
It even gives you a sneak peek at the Magic Mirror, not much but enough to make you wonder if the entire family is nothing but evil. If they are, then who is the worst of the two?
Snow White fooled the Huntsman, Prince Charming & the Queen, and how she is fooling the world as well.

I cannot wait to see how the book Snow White Sorrow of the Grimm Diaries by Cameron Jace goes. I think I am enjoying the twists on fairy tales more than I enjoyed the actual fairy tales as a child.

Blood Soaked Promises (Blood & Snow #4) ~ RaShelle Workman

Snow receives a gift from Christopher, a pendant which she later learns the tale of. But unable to deal with the stress or responsibilities, she tries to hide from all of the issues occurring. Learning that her friend is a witch, doesn’t help the situation either. She allows herself to b e over whelmed by everything.
All in all it was a good read. I am sure Ms. Workman could have had more details in these stories, but she choose not to included too much detail. For this story, it actually works. What you read, builds for the next novelette.
(Spoilers … don’t read if you don’t like them)
The story beings with Snow, telling about how much of a klutz that she is. And showing her friendship between the brothers & Cindy. It, also, shows how her father & stepmother aren’t around that much, but how Professor Pops and the brothers are. All in all you get a good idea how close those individuals mean to Snow.
When things start going “strange” (so to speak) Snow depends a lot on the brothers & Professor. Causing some distance between her & Cindy, but things will seem to get resolved later.
Snow becomes a Revenant, not quite human but not quite vampire, when she is bitten by the Hunter assigned to her, Christopher Charming. Who she discovers is the “new guy” in school, that all the girls are so interested in. Yet, he is more focused on her.
She later learns Charming’s story, on how he became a vampire. She will also learn how Cindy’s family is a descendent of the witches, and that Cindy is also one. (Lot’s a quick stories wrapped up into one here)
During all this time, there is a break between Snow, Professor & the brothers. Charming has gone missing, and her parents leave once again. She, also, losses the pendant that Charming left for her. She runs because she bit Gabe, and the novelette leaves you hanging as to wondering if she killed him or not.

Will definitely have to read the next novelette, Prey and Magic.

The Vampire Christopher (Blood and Snow #3) ~ RaShelle Workman

After biting her Hunter, Christopher, Snow becomes less of a klutz. But that does not stop the issues from occurring in her life.
One of her friends goes missing, Gabe decides to back off from their pending relationship, and of course her parents show up.
In this novelette, you learn how Christopher became a vampire. As well as, how Snow survives the 1st attack on her life. Although Gabe backs off, he’s there to train her, as well as take her to school each day.

There is so much that could be told, but telling them kinda of spoils the read.
